I am an associate professor in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Guadalajara. I am a sociolinguist, my area or expertise is Conversation Analysis.

I study how human beings carry out social actions when interacting with each other during their daily activities across different contexts. In particular, my studies focus on the moment by moment unfolding of social interaction because  it is there where the structural, systematic, social and linguistic aspects of intersubjectivity (or mutual understanding) are discovered and described.

I am the author of the first introductory book to conversation analysis in Spanish entitled Análisis Conversacional: Estudio de la acción social (Universidad de Guadalajara, 2019).
